Tower Simulation System (TSS) - FAA

With our focus on mission and proven systems engineering solutions, we helped the FAA successfully deploy 59 Air Traffic Control (ATC) training systems at 42 locations across the U.S. and improved ATC training by 10% and improved the training accessibility rate by 75% making the national airspace safer, more efficient, and more well-equipped.

Due to MZI's excellent solution delivery, MZI has been proudly recognized by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) AJI-2 Technical & Training sub-agency Executive Abby Smith for on-time, on-budget, and on-performance solutions for the TSS program. Currently, over 1,000 users utilize the system with over 60,000 hours annually with $44 Million cost savings in ATC training.

Tasks include:

  • Led the system development process through the FAA's Acquisition Management System (AMS) process and successfully completed the Joint Resource Council (JRC) engineering analysis

  • Implement a data analytics strategy in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to realize more benefits

  • Perform Enterprise Architecture (EA) to analyze enterprise-level impacts of system design

  • Solution architecture for new capabilities such as Natural Language Processing (NLP) for voice recognition and adaptive learning

  • Manage agile software development cycles and acquisition

  • Developed systems requirements with full traceability to the specification and enterprise architecture

  • Lead software requirements analysis and architecture

  • Lead Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) efforts at the vendor’s facility

  • Lead Site Acceptance Test (SAT) efforts at each FAA facility

  • Perform equipment and technology readiness assessments

  • Lead the full life-cycle system design

  • Support financial analysis for Earned Value Management (EVM)

  • Support site readiness review process

  • Performed waterfall and deployment analysis
